spazio. l colore che l' immagine infrarossa (la
vegetazione verde e ritratta come tonalità di
colore rosso) accentua alberi en il terreno montagnoso
(centro dell' immagine), conosciuto come la Serre,
nella regione della Calabria dell' Italia del sud. Le
specie di foresta includono gli abeti, i faggi e gli
alberi della castagna. La Pecorara, più alto
picco nelle montagne di Serre (1422 metri), è
situata al centro dell' immagine. Molti ravine scenici
sono stati intagliati dalle montagne degli fiumi corti
che vuotano al sud-est nel mare ionico (parte
inferiore). Parte del punto più stretto (35
chilometro) in Italia, il isthmus di Marcellinara,
possiamo vedere alla destra dell' immagine. Una
piccola sezione del mare di Tyrrhenia è
visibile al angolo destra superiore. Alcune nubi sono
visibile di punto Stilo di sinistra più basso
dell' immagine e sopra la Serre).

Marina liegt am jonischen Meer (im Bild am unteren
Küstenrand, ca. Ende des ersten Drittels von
rechts, Badolato Superiore liegt ca. 250 müM und
4.5 Km innerhalb der Küste)
- Das
Infrarotbild (grüne Vegetation in rot) zeigt das
bewaldete Gebirgsgelände in der Mitte des Bildes,
bekannt als Serre. Der Wald besteht aus Tannen, Buchen
und Kastanien. In der Mitte des Bildes ist La
Pecorara, die höchste Spitze in der Serre (1422
müM). Viele malerische Schluchten wurden von
schnellfliessenden, kurzen Flüssen, die in
Richtung Südosten ins jonische Meer auslaufen,
aus den Bergen ausgeschnitten (unterer
Küstenrand) Der engste Punkt (35 Kilometer) in
Italien ist der Isthmus von Marcellinara, am rechten
Rand des Bildes. Ein kleines Stück des
tyrrhenischen Meers ist oben in der rechten Ecke
sichtbar. Wegen der Rauhheit des Geländes ist
diese Region nur spärlich bevölkert. Am
unteren Rand (Stilo) und über der Serre sind
einige Wolken sichtbar.

Stilo, Italy October 1993 The color infrared image
(green vegetation is portrayed as shades of red)
accentuates the forested mountainous terrain (center
of image), known as the Serre, in the Calabria region
of southern Italy. Forest species include firs,
beeches, and chestnut trees. Mt. Pecorara, highest
peak in the Serre Mountains (4668 feet-1422 meters),
is located near the center of the picture. Many scenic
gorges have been carved out of the mountains by
swift-flowing, short rivers that drain to the
southeast into the Ionian Sea (bottom). Part of the
narrowest point (22 miles-35 km) in Italy, the isthmus
of Marcellinara, can be seen
